Californian, Myra Burg, graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 1982, Magna Cum Laude and continued her studies at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Fountainbleau France, Art Center College of Design.
Although a licensed and practicing architect since 1984, Ms. Burg has shifted her practice to creating three dimensional art forms. From her experimentation The Quiet Oboe was born. " I fell in love with the warmth of wrapped fiber on the cylindrical form. Each tube is coated with adhesive, and individually wrapped, top to bottom, with sumptuous fiber of varying sheen and texture.”
Burg has placed several hundred installations for private collections and public spaces in Japan, throughout the United States, the Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, and Australia. Burg also enjoys collaborating with oil painter Liz Cummings giving both artists’ work an extra punch.
